FAQs For Our Digital Marketer

Frequently Asked Questions For Our Digital Marketer

Our digital marketer Ben Quarterly answers some of the most commonly asked questions that we get at Alliance…

How Can I Drive More Traffic to My Website?

Ideally you want to focus your efforts on the quality of traffic visiting your website as although a high volume of traffic may look great, it is often used as a vanity metric rather generating ROI.

To achieve this, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a great and effective tool, and for as long as you rank highly in Google, it can generate you long-term results through passive organic traffic.

However, relying solely on SEO to generate all of your website’s traffic should not be your sole focus. It is important to diversify the way in which your website gains traffic via knowing your audience, search, social and direct marketing.

Making sure you know your audience and then targeting them correctly is a step in the right direction. Ask yourself:

  • Who are they?
  • What are their interests?

Once you have gathered this information, you can use it to your advantage by creating content, adverts, and hashtags based on these interests alone.

It also provides an insight into which platforms your audience frequent the most. This enables you to create specific content for those platforms. This will add more valuable content for your consumers to click on, bringing them back to your website.

How Do I Write Content for Social?

Here at Alliance, we understand it can be hard to get to grips with the ever-changing social media platforms and their algorithms.

However, having a social media strategy and action plan based on your goals, resources and timescale is an important first step.

When creating content, you need to make it highly relevant to your audience’s interests, wants and needs. That way you can connect with them directly by bringing value to them.

Our next tip will be to keep it short and sweet! Whilst there certainly is a time and place for an essay like blog post on the difference between digital and traditional marketing, people value their time. Make your content easy to read, use headings, bullet points and lists where possible, and keep your paragraph length to only a few sentences long.

Finally, add a call to action! When concluding your content, tell them what to do next. Most people won’t engage further with your content past reading it. An example could be to ask them to share, like or follow and include a hyperlink to make it easy for them to implement.

The Difference Between Traditional and Digital Marketing?

In its basic form, traditional marketing involves using traditional channels such as printed advertising, and brochures. Whilst digital marketing utilises websites, social media and other online channels.

However, it is important to remember that both are important, and can be relevant either as standalone or integrated campaigns depending upon the objectives and target audience.

How Do I Reach my Target Audience?

Building a business or campaign for a specific market requires a deep understanding of who your consumers are. You should start by asking yourself who you think your ideal customer would be? what are their interests, wants and needs?

Once you have identified out who your customer is, develop your content or products to cater towards them. This will encourage better engagement and conversions.

You can then streamline this process by creating content calendars and developing relevant marketing strategies to suit your required business/campaign goals.

How Do I Receive More Reviews for My Business?

The best way to get terrific testimonials is to do a wonderful job. You have done a great job for a great customer. They are happy and so are you. Now is the time to approach them for a testimonial.

However, here are a few ideas that work:

  • Don’t just say, “Would you mind giving us a testimonial?” They will say yes, but never bother to write something or send you the form back. The key is to call the person that you have worked with or have the relationship with to do the interview. Ask customer service type questions (at the same time also establish if you can offer them any other products or services – remember my last email!). If the answers are positive, then ask if this could become a testimonial to put on the website.
  • Our preferred option is to write the testimonial ourselves and then send it to the client for their approval. By doing it this way, you can focus on a specific element of your service or product range. This also makes the process so much easier for the client and the response time is immediate.
